Qatar Chamber participated in the 31st meeting of the Board of Directors of the Islamic Chambers of Commerce, Industry and Agriculture (ICCIA) held virtually yesterday.
QC’s Chairman and First Vice Chairman of ICCIA, Sheikh Khalifa bin Jassim Al Thani headed the Chamber’s delegation participating in the meeting which included board members Abdulrahman Abdul Jalil Abdul Ghani and Dr Mohamed Gawhar Al Mohamed.
The meeting’s agenda included the recommendations of the 63rd session of the Finance Committee, the report of the General Secretariat, the explanatory memorandum prepared for the General Secretariat regarding the position of President, and the approval of the final report of the meeting.
For his part, Sheikh Khalifa said that the Islamic Chamber plays a key role in strengthening economic and commercial cooperation between the 57 member states of the Organisation of Islamic Cooperation, noting that the State of Qatar greatly supports the efforts being made to enhance economic integration among Islamic countries.
He also emphasised the importance of enhancing cooperation and coordination among the members states of ICCIA and facilitating procedures for exchanging goods and services in a way that contributes to developing intra-Islamic trade and achieving the common Islamic market.
It is worth mentioning that ICCIA is an affiliated institution of the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC) and is the sole represents the private sector of 57 Member Islamic Countries.
It aims at strengthening closer collaboration in the field of trade, commerce, information technology, insurance/reinsurance, shipping, banking, promotion of investment opportunities and joint ventures in the Member countries.
It also aims at supporting cooperation among the business sector in the countries of the Organization through diversifying commercial products among themselves in order to achieve economic integration and economic and social development therein.
ICCIA also seeks to achieve the development of industrial and agricultural products in the countries of the Islamic world and promotion of the concept of quality and competitiveness through the issuance of certificates of quality relating to the methods of enterprises management and the quality and characteristics of products in accordance with the standards and criteria adopted by the Chamber in accordance with the provisions of these Statute.
