1751 new covid-19 cases, 3 deaths Monday in Qatar as total recoveries cross 10,000

The Ministry of Public Health (MoPH) Monday announced the registration of 1751 new confirmed cases of coronavirus disease(Covid-19), and 1193 recoveries in the last 24 hours, bringing the total number of recovered cases in the State of Qatar to 10363.
The Ministry also announced the deaths of three patients aged 52, 62 and 65 years old. The three were suffering from chronic diseases and were receiving treatment in the intensive care units, the statement added. The Ministry extended its sincere condolences and great sympathy to the families of the deceased.

Ministry also informed that over the last 24 hours, 22 people were admitted to intensive care units, bringing the total number of cases in intensive care to 202. Till date, 45465 positive cases were detected in Qatar and of which 35076 cases are now active. The total death toll as of today is 26.
The Ministry stated that most of the new cases are among expatriate workers who were infected with the virus by coming into contact with individuals who were already infected. The infected cases are from different regions of the country and they have been identified after conducting investigations by the research and investigation teams of the Ministry.
Cases of infection are on the rise among citizens and residents as a result of contact with infected family members who had been infected at the workplace or through family visits and gatherings. The new confirmed cases of infection have been introduced to complete isolation in the various medical facilities in the country, where they receive the necessary healthcare according to the health status of each case.

The Ministry stated also that Qatar is still in the peak phase of the virus outbreak, which is seeing a rise in the number of infections recorded daily, and therefore it is necessary to adhere, more than ever before, to the preventive measures and social distancing measures recommended.

The Ministry also stressed the importance for the elderly or those suffering from chronic diseases and their family members to follow strict measures to reduce the chances of infection, including refraining from social visits during Eid al-Fitr and beyond.

Anyone who has symptoms of Covid-19 should either quickly contact the authorities through 16000 helpline or go directly to one of the designated health centers for testing the virus. This is important as the earlier the disease is detected the easier it will be to receive the right treatment and recover from it.

The four main testing centers are: Muaither Health Centre, Rawdat Al Khalil Health Centre
Um Slal Health Centre and Al Gharafa Health Centre

The Ministry also recommended regular visiting of its website to view the latest information and instructions related to Covid-19.
