FIFA World Cup 2022 to impact Qatar’s wellness industry positively

Doha: Hosting of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 will have a positive impact on Qatar’s wellness industry, said a senior official of Zulal Wellness Resort. The resort, which is now open and hosting guests, is expecting to attract guests from across the globe.

“The holding of the 2022 World Cup in Qatar is already generating an abundance of international exposure to the country. We believe this will have a direct impact on the wellness industry, since the sports and wellness industries are tied very closely in their focus on physical fitness and health,” Daniele Vastolo, GM of Zulal Wellness Resort told The Peninsula. “We expect this to attract a significant number of visitors to Zulal, especially since our fitness and physiotherapy offering is extremely relevant for the visiting athletes as well as for people looking to reinvigorate their own wellness journey,” he added.

Located in Khasooma, a private coastal location in the north of Qatar, Zulal Wellness Resort brings visitors a luxurious experience, offering the highest international standards that are inclusive of local family values.

Vastolo said that the resort is the embodiment of the features of the desert and the sea that are exclusive and distinct to Qatar and the region, and has formulated an expansive menu of services and products.

“Zulal Wellness Resort philosophy taps into Traditional Arabic & Islamic Medicine; the resort also widely uses local products – including herbs, spices, and food – in its culinary and wellness menus. Therefore, we expect to meet a significant interest from local and regional clientele, but we are also confident that Zulal will attract a global wellness-focused clientele who will come to Qatar to experience our unmatched wellness offering, which leverages Chiva-Som’s heritage of expertise and wealth in the health and wellness field,” he said. “Zulal will welcome guests from across the globe as a leading health and well-being resort,” he added.

According to Daniele, the pandemic has awakened people’s need to reconnect with themselves, with each other, and with nature. Extended travel restrictions, quarantine requirements as well as increased consciousness about environmental issues have dramatically shifted the attitudes towards travel and holidaymaking.

While the interest in staycations and local travel has risen for short-term getaways, people have also changed the approach towards vacationing with the preference towards longer, higher quality trips and new, unusual destinations.

“Zulal Wellness Resort’s elaborate and diverse short- and long-term retreats are uniquely positioned to meet this new demand, welcoming wellness lovers from Qatar and abroad,” he said.
“Guests who book at Zulal Wellness Resort will embark on a personalised health and wellness journey, through customized retreats available for a minimum stay of 2 or 3 nights to pursue their personal wellness goals, enabling them to acquire new changes that will contribute to enhancing their health and Well-being and adopting them as a new lifestyle,” he added.

He said that Zulal’s holistic wellness approach incorporates a range of practices and treatments that aim to care for the mind, body, and soul of the individual, but they do not stop at that.

Zulal invites its guests to combine regular fitness and sports with yoga, meditation, and earthing – activities that offer physical and emotional healing, and practice mindfulness daily.

“Furthermore, through a first of its kind family wellness program, we are seeking to support the Well-being of families by combining activities aimed at improving emotional, intellectual, social, and physical wellness of family through positive group dynamics. We believe that the ultimate wellness can only be achieved through a holistic journey that truly reflects the complexity of the human being needs and offers long-term, sustainable solutions for health and wellness,” he added.
