Doha – Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (KAHRAMAA) signed two contracts for the supply of electrical cables with Aamal Cables for Trading and Contracting company, and Qatar International Cables Company, on a request-as-needed basis for a period of three years, with a total value exceeding QR 1 billion.
The contracts were signed by HE President of Qatar General Electricity and Water Corporation (Kahramaa) Eng. Essa bin Hilal Al Kuwari, HE Chairman of the Board of Directors of Aamal Cables Trading and Contracting Company Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al-Thani, and Executive Director of Qatar International Cables Company. The signing ceremony took place remotely, via live broadcast.
The signing of the two contracts comes as part of KAHRAMAAs efforts to develop the infrastructure of the electricity sector in the country, which is witnessing steady growth as a result of the increasing demand for electricity and the comprehensive construction boom in the country.
The signing of the two contracts with two Qatari companies is also an affirmation of the ability of local companies to keep pace with development plans in various sectors to support the competitiveness of the Qatari economy.
The value of the contract signed with Aamal Cables Trading and Contracting Company, (Doha Cables Factory), is about QR 695 million, while the value of the contract signed with Qatar International Cables (QICC) is more than QR 320 million, for the supply of low and medium voltage cables with a length of 7 km and 345 Meters.
HE Chairman of Aamal Company Sheikh Faisal bin Qassim Al-Thani commented on this occasion: “We are very pleased that Aamal Cables has been awarded such a major contract, despite the challenges of COVID-19 on the local and global landscape. This is an excellent example both of Qatars resilient economy and of Aamal’s resilient business model. Aamal Cables is an entirely local Qatari company and we are honored to have been chosen to supply locally produced cables to such a leading organization as Kahramaa. Aamal’s strong relationship with Kahramaa is based on trust and commitment and we are proud to be playing our part in the ongoing development of Qatars advanced infrastructure and industrialization.”
For his part, HE CEO and Managing Director of Aamal Sheikh Mohamed bin Faisal Al-Thani, commented: “As we enter the final third of the year, this contract with Kahramaa provides a positive sign of recovery from the challenges of the pandemic and is an indication of the increased activity that we expect to see within Aamals Industrial Manufacturing segment. I would like to thank Kahramaa for their trust in the excellence of local products and for their continued support of Qatars private sector. Aamal’s strong foundations and diversified business model allows it to benefit from opportunities across Qatars economic spectrum. It is recognized by many leading Qatari and international companies as being an ideal partner and we are proud that Kahramaa has chosen to place their trust in us.”
Under the two contracts, the supplying company stores the materials in its warehouse and supplies them directly to the establishment within two days of issuing the supply order.
These two contracts are an extension of KAHRAMAAs experience, which is pioneering in the field of supply agreements, as it has already concluded several contracts with different companies.
